About Gina

Hi, I am Dr. Gina Dattilo, psychologist and mother of two awesome kids. As parents we all struggle, whatever problems your child and/or your family are experiencing you do not have to go through it alone. I am here to provide you with support and to build on your strengths to reach your goals.

Why should you trust me to help? First and foremost, I respect that you as the parent are the expert on your child. Secondly, I have the training and experience to needed to support you during times of crisis. I have been working with children and their families for 25 years.  I have helped with children and their families through all types of situations and I will use my knowledge and experiences to benefit you.  I have over 10 years of experience working in residential treatment with children, teens and young adults; intellectual disability, behavioral disorders, mental health issues and Autism Spectrum Disorder.   I have five years of experience with the Houston Independent School District doing crisis counseling, as well as experience with Special Education and the 504 process. I have also worked in community mental health agencies and as an in-home worker doing Family Preservation, Services to Children in their Own Homes, and BHRS as a Mobile Therapist and Behavior Specialist Consultant.

My passion is helping children and their families. I have both professional and personal experiences with children with anxiety, depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, adoption triad issues, intellectual disability, communication disorders and ADHD.

I offer individual therapy for children and teens with Intellectual Disability, Autism, behavioral issues like non compliance, school refusal and aggression, issues related to trauma, issues surrounding adoption, and mental health issues like anxiety, and depression.  In addition to traditional family counseling I also provide co-parenting therapy. I also offer groups as well and particularly find the group experience for children and teens dealing with issues surrounding their adoption to be helpful.

My approach to therapy is pretty straight forward: I work with your strengths and help you develop new skills. I want to help you work on your goals. There is no such thing as one size fits all therapy. I tend to focus on the present and work on making small manageable changes that lead to your objectives and goals. I ask that you provide me feedback. Let me know how you feel things are progressing in each session. Therapy is both an art and a science there are treatments that have scientific support to back them but there is an art in how this treatment occurs and for each client it is a little bit different because your strengths and skills as different from everyone else’s.

When not providing therapy, I can be found at home working on genealogy or driving around Chester County with my kids and two dogs hanging out and having fun. If you see me, feel free to stop and say hello.
